Yon de Luisa will no longer lead the Mexican Football Federation

Yon de Luisa will not continue to lead the Mexican Football Federation.

Yon de Luisa decided to end his cycle as president of the Mexican Football Federationthe federation will hand over his position at the end of this period under the command of the highest governing entity of Aztec soccer.

The decision was confirmed by Yon de Luisa himself through a statement sent to the owners of Liga MX. Similarly, the decision not to stand for the next federation election must be approved and ratified by the group of owners, who will then have to choose the new face to be in charge of running the federation.

Reaction of the Mexican Football Federation

Given Yon de Luisa’s decision, the Mexican Football Federation issued a statement informing about the president’s decision. “Today, the president of the Mexican Football Federation, Ing. Yon de Luisa, informed all the members of the Owners’ Assembly of his decision not to run for re-election as president of the FMF for the four-year period 2023-2026, to so that whoever occupies this position adjusts to the new vision and objectives of the FMF“, says the statement.

The next Owners Assembly is scheduled to take place in May, meanwhile Yon de Luisa maintains his responsibilities at the helm of the FMF. Yon de Luisa reiterated his commitment to soccer in Mexico, so he will continue to fulfill the charges that were conferred on him as a member of the FIFA and Concacaf Councils“, ended the statement of the Mexican Football Federation.
