In this year’s round of Sweden’s Master Chef VIP, we have seen celebrities such as Elsa Billgren, Gudrun Schyman and Kristoffer Triumf stir the pots. But the one who finally took home the win was soccer star Jesper Blomqvist.
It is not the first time that Jesper Blomqvist, 48, has had luck with him in a television competition. In the past, we have been able to see him achieve success in everything from “Let’s Dance” and “Mästarnas mästaren” to “Hela kendis-Sverige bakar.” Before the competition, he ran a pizzeria in Stockholm and today the business has grown with other food and an Italian chef. In the future, he hopes to spend more time behind the pots in the restaurant kitchen.
“Tougher to compete in cooking”
In “Sweden’s Master Chef VIP”, the final was fought against Karl-Fredrik Gustafsson, 36, with even results. But it then became clear that it was the former footballer who took home the win. And although Jesper previously won both “Let’s Dance” and “Hela Sverige Bakar”, he believes that it was tougher to compete in cooking. “I took competing in dancing and baking a bit with a twinkle in my eye, but competing in cooking was definitely tougher, because it means so much to me. I felt that I really wanted to be good,” he tells Expressen after the win.
Last year, it was the artist Eric Gadd who won against The Sounds singer Maja Ivarsson in the final. This year’s jury consisted of Leif Mannerström, Mischa Billing and Markus Aujalay. After the win, the winner gets SEK 100,000 to give to a charity of their choice.
Congratulations on the win, Jesper!
