What did the teaser for The Marvels shown at D23 show? • ENTER.CO

It was quite a busy weekend for Marvel fans. We got the first trailer for Secret Invasion, a confirmation of who the Thunderbolts will be, as well as an update on some upcoming projects. Unfortunately, not everything shown in D23 comes out of D23. From the voice of those attending the event we know that some teasers and even scenes from shows were presented and looking at the MCU’s YouTube channel, which has not been updated since the weekend, we can assume that they were only for the eyes of the audience. One of them is The Marvels or Captain Marvel 2.

The good news is that while D23’s rules prohibit recording these previews, there’s nothing against revealing what they showed in detail. And collecting the descriptions of the trailer we have a pretty clear picture of what it showed.

The first thing is that apparently this first teaser seems to be quite short, at least if we measure it by the length of what we have been told. The preview begins with Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) exploring space. This is in direct connection to WandaVision’s post-credits scene, in which we saw her being recruited by the Skrulls. In this mission, Monica comes into contact with a special force field that absorbs her and then makes her switch places with Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), similar to how we saw her do it with Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) in the movie. Post credit scene from Ms. Marvel.

After this we see an extended version of the aforementioned scene, with Carol switching places with Kamala. Another cut and this time we see Monica going to Kamala’s house and seeing how when she tries to use her powers she switches places with either Monica or Carol. A few more cuts of this dynamic, showing the chemistry between these duos.

Of course, Kamala is excited to meet her idol and get the chance to work with her, but Monica and Carol seem less excited about collaborating. Again, returning to WandaVision, it was already anticipated that the relationship between the two was somewhat damaged, something that we hope The Marvels will clarify.

Who is the villain of The Marvels? The preview intentionally does not reveal who will be the bad guy in the film, but we do see the three heroines fighting a group of Kree soldiers, anticipating that they will again be the ones to play the enemy to defeat. Of course, it’s not the only mystery, as neither of the three heroines understands why or how they’re trading places.

With any luck, we’ll just have to wait a few months to see this trailer with our eyes. The Marvels will premiere on July 28, 2023, exclusively on Disney+.
