As of January 2023, prepare to pay even more to be able to travel on national highways and SCUT. After a significant increase in 2022, the year 2023 brings increases of around 5%.
Even so, this increase represents half of the value proposed by the concessionaires, which was around 10%, since the price of the tolls is indexed to the inflation rate. However, the Executive led by António Costa should impose a ceiling of 5%, so as not to further aggravate the financial situation of families.
It should be remembered that, in 2022, the Portuguese already had to bear the biggest increase in the cost of tolls in recent years, in the order of 1.57%.
In 2020 and 2021, due to negative inflation, increases were frozen. In the four previous years, the increases were at most 1.42%, in 2018. In 2019 it was 0.98%, in 2017 there was an increase of 0.84%, and in 2016 of 0.62%. But far from the values ​​of 2.03% in 2013 or 4.36% in 2012.
