It is already known that the Canadian artist Weeknd is behind Spotify’s most streamed song ever: “Blinding Lights”, which at the time of writing has just over 3.4 billion streams. Now, the service has confirmed that he has also become the first artist to reach 100 million unique listeners a month.

Song from 2016 went viral

The audience record comes a few days after the release of the artist’s new remix of “Die For You” featuring Ariana Grande – a song that was originally released in 2016 but has received a recent boost after going viral on TikTok.

The Weeknd – whose real name is Abel Tesfaye – released his debut album “Kiss Land” in 2013 and has become one of the most popular artists of the last decade. His music is described as a mix of R&B/Soul and Dance/Electro.
