The television year 2022 was marked by a lot of fantasy, but also the occasional drama has found its way into IMDb’s list of the year’s most popular series. Have you seen them all?

1. Stranger Things

After a three-year hiatus returned Stranger Things to Netflix for a fourth season this year and was welcomed with open arms by fans. If you like supernatural elements, suspense and retro vibes, this is the series for you! A fifth season is expected to air in 2024.

2. House of the Dragon

There were probably many who suspected that House of the Dragonwhich is the prequel series to HBO’s hit series Game of Throneswould become one of the most popular series of the year. House of the Dragon based on the book by George RR Martin Fire & Blood and the plot – which takes place 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones – revolves around the Targaryen family. The series has been renewed for a second season.

3. Better Call Saul

Number three on the list is Better Call Saul, a series that takes place before Breaking Bad. Here we get to follow Jimmy McGill and his transformation into the unscrupulous lawyer Saul Goodman. As well as Breaking Bad this series has become a real viewer favorite and the last episode was watched by 1.8 million viewers when it came out.

4. Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

Another fantasy series that has had a big impact in 2022 is Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The plot of this lavish series takes place a thousand years before the events of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. A total of five seasons are planned.

5. Euphoria

Zendaya was awarded her second Emmy for her performance in Season 2 of this somewhat controversial series, which revolves around a teenage girl struggling with substance abuse and mental illness.

6. The Boys

What would happen if superheroes misused their superpowers? That is the question that is asked in the TV series The Boys, whose third season came out in June this year. A fourth season is also planned, as well as a spinoff series with the title Gen V.

7. Moon Knight

Moon Knight is a new series from about a slightly different Marvel hero. The series, which has elements of Egyptian mythology, consists of six episodes and is available to stream on Disney+.

8. The Sandman

Neil Gaiman’s cult series The Sandman quickly became popular when it was released on Netflix earlier this year. The plot revolves around Morpheus or “Dream” who is the immortal personification of dreams.

9. Ozark

Ozark is about a financial advisor who moves with his family from Chicago to the Ozark Plateau in Missouri, where he must launder $500 million over five years to appease a drug kingpin. The fourth and final season came out earlier this year and featured an Emmy-winning performance from Julia Garner, who plays Ruth Langmore in the series.

10. Inventing Anna

2022 was the year of the fraudsters, then both The Tinder scammer and Invention Anna became viewer favorites on Netflix at the beginning of the year. It worked out for the best Invention Annaa series that tells the story of a con artist who defrauded individuals and banks in New York out of hundreds of thousands of dollars in the 2010s.
