The Fantastic Four movie will not be an origin story • ENTER.CO

Although the Fantastic Four movie is a little way off, Marvel can promise us one thing: it won’t be an ‘origins’ story.

Right now we have a better idea of what we can expect from the MCU in the years to come. But one project that Marvel hasn’t released any further details about is its first Fantastic Four movie. The debut of the team of heroes in the Marvel universe is one of the most anticipated releases and one of the reasons why MCU fans celebrated the acquisition of 20th Century Fox at the time. It is also a fascinating project because, at the moment, the Fantastic Four movie is one of the three films that are part of Phase 4 of the MCU and the movie that comes before the two mega events: ‘Kang Dynasty’ and ‘ Secret Wars’.

But in the midst of so much secrecy, we now at least know one thing: the Fantastic Four movie will not be an origin story.

By ‘origin movie’ we mean stories that usually tell how heroes got their powers or how they became heroes. Think of the original Ironman or Captain America films. Now, through an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Kevin Feige (the man in charge of Marvel Studios) confirmed that the team’s first film will not be a film of this type.

“A lot of people know this origin story,” he said. “A lot of people know the basics. How do we take that and bring something that they’ve never seen before?

It wouldn’t be the first time the MCU has come out of this model. The first Spider-Man movie completely ignores some base elements of the hero’s history and, to this day, we don’t really have a story on how Peter Parker got his powers from him. For many, in fact, this was one of the best qualities of the film as it avoided telling the same story once again that we had already heard.

Again, details about the movie are almost non-existent. But it will be interesting to see how Marvel resolves this issue and introduces us to the team without explaining how they got their powers… especially considering there doesn’t seem to be any mention of a Reed Richards or Victor Von Doom in their universe so far.
