Now we do have a reason to get excited about the Blue Beetle movie. Susan Sarandon (Thelma and Louise), who is part of the cast of the film, revealed something important during an interview for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon: apparently all, if not a good part, of the film will be in Spanish:
“What’s so great about (the project) is that he’s the first Latino hero to have his own movie… Even better, all Mexican, because his family is Mexican and all the actors were Mexican or Mexican-American, and it’s in Spanish, so it is subtitled […] I am, of course, the bad guy! I’m the character from the military industrial complex, so I had a blast. Because there is nothing better than being bad!”

Sarandon’s comments seem to indicate that the Blue Beetle movie will be in Spanish and that, at least as far as the actress knows, a good portion of this dialogue was recorded in this language. Of course, it is unlikely that 100% of the tape will be in Spanish. An important reason is that one of the most important audiences for the film is from the United States, a country that has a tradition of not enjoying films that are not in English very much.
In any case, it is interesting to see that DC will have a little more representation, especially when it comes to Latino characters. It’s also good to know that the film sought to cast many of its actors as Latinos or people of Latino descent. The director of the film is Puerto Rican Angel Manuel Soto. On the other hand, Jaime Reyes (the protagonist of the film) will be played by the actor Colo Maridueña is the son of a Cuban-Ecuadorian producer and a Mexican announcer.
