The Chivas de Guadalajara led by the Serbian-Spanish coach Veljko Paunovic beat Tigres UANL 1-2 this Saturday in their own stadium. With this result, the Sacred Flock takes third position in the Clausura 2023 tournament of the Liga MX by storm.
Gilberto Sepúlveda and Ronaldo Cisneros scored for Chivas, while Argentine Nicolás Ibáñez scored for Chima Ruiz’s team.
Guadalajara surprised the Tigres just in minute two with a goal from Sepúlveda, from the right to a pass from Ronaldo Cisneros. After this goal, Chivas Paunovic grew and it was in the 34th minute they managed to extend the advantage with a left-footed shot from Ronaldo Cisnerosthanks to an assist from Roberto Alvarado.

Tigres insisted on the attack, despite the fact that they were not given the score, and it was until the end of the game when the Colombian Luis Quiñones finished off, Sepúlveda committed a handball in the area and caused a penalty. The maximum penalty was converted by Ibáñez for 1-2, in the 87th minute.
The last few minutes were tense, with Tigres on the offensive and Guadalajara well planted behind to keep the score. Finally, Chivas managed to place itself in third place with five wins, three draws, one loss and 18 points, the same as Tigres, second, and who have three units less than the leader Monterrey.
