SVT stops broadcasting “Bäst i test” – The rights have become too expensive

The successful program Best in test will no longer be broadcast on SVT, this as the costs for the program’s rights have been raised significantly, it says SVT News.

SVT no longer has the rights to broadcast the popular program Best in test. The reason is that the British production company Avalon, which owns the rights, has shockingly raised the price:

“We simply had to let go Best in test. The reason was that the British format owners suddenly demanded a price that we are unwilling and unable to pay. Then I’m talking about extreme money that we didn’t think was justifiable, says Eva Beckman, who doesn’t want to mention any sums,” says SVT’s program director Eva Beckman to SVT Nyheter.

Taken over by TV4

Best in test is an entertainment program based on the British program Taskmaster. The rights have been sold to several countries. The Swedish edition of premiered in 2017 and is currently hosted by Babben Larsson and David Sundin.

After today’s announcement from SVT, it has now appeared that TV4 will take over the program – and then Larsson and Sundin will follow, that confirms TV4 News.

“We are very excited about the opportunity to take over Best in test which is a fantastic format and with it also the popular presenters Babben Larsson and David Sundin”, says Fredrik Arefalk, channel and content director at TV4.
