Super Bock Group and Greenvolt allied for clean energy

Installation of more than 20,000 solar panels in the various Super Bock Group units will generate more than 16,000 MWh/year.

The Super Bock Group joined the Greenvolt Group, through Greenvolt Comunidades, to create six renewable energy communities in the North and Center of the country.

In yet another step in the implementation of its commitment to decarbonise by 2030, the largest Portuguese company of refreshing drinks will install more than 20,000 solar panels in six of its units that will allow it to reduce its own energy needs and, at the same time, share the surplus with companies and individuals in the surrounding communities, within a radius of 4 km.

In what is one of the largest solar energy projects in a brewing industry, the photovoltaic solar panels will occupy an area of more than 60,000 m2 and will have a global installed capacity of around 11,000 kWp, allowing the production of more than 16,000 MWh of clean energy annually.

The Production Units for Self-Consumption and the Energy Communities to be created will be distributed among the various units of the Super Bock Group, namely at the headquarters in Matosinhos (Liça do Balio), where its main factory is located, at the Water Production Centers natural minerals in Castelo de Vide, Ladeira de Envendos and Pedras Salgadas, in the logistics center in Santarém and in the two hotel units, Pedras Salgadas Spa & Nature Park It is Vidago Palace Hotel.

energy communities

“We are creating our first energy community in a sector with a great history in our country, and soon with a leader like the Super Bock Group. It is, for us, recognition of the quality work we do in the renewable energy sector, but also of the potential that energy communities hold”, says João Manso Neto, CEO of the Greenvolt Group.

José Queirós de Almeida, CEO of Greenvolt Comunidades, adds that “the Super Bock Group immediately understood the contribution of the Energy Communities to its commitment to Sustainability, and above all the great triple impact that projects like these bring: economic, environmental and social.”
