Valentine’s Day seems to have been more about revenge than love for global artist Shakira. During the day, she posted a video on Instagram that seems to be directed at her ex, soccer player Gerard Piqué – and the message is sharp, to say the least.
For many, the fourteenth of February is a day for declarations of love, but for Shakira this time the day was about something completely different.
Sings about killing his ex
The artist and her partner of eleven years, soccer player Gerard Piqué, parted ways last summer following rumors of infidelity on Piqué’s part. He is now with 23-year-old Clara Chia Marti, with whom he is suspected of having an affair during the time he was with Shakira.
Many of Shakira’s fans believe that the video she posted on Instagram on Valentine’s Day is aimed at Piqué. In the video, the singer mimes SZA’s hit song “Kill Bill”, a song that has gained widespread popularity on the platform.
Part of the lyrics reads:
“I might kill my ex, not the best idea. His new girlfriend is next in line, how do I get there? / I might kill my ex, even though I still love him / I’d rather be in jail than be alone / I did it for love.”
