Red Hat and Samsung begin new vRAN collaboration

Red Hat and Samsung are expanding their collaboration to offer a virtualized radio access (vRAN) solution with enhanced integration and automation capabilities. The solution will be developed to help service providers better manage large networks and, through increased flexibility and operational efficiency, meet the new requirements that 5G entails. Through the collaboration, Samsung and Red Hat work to continuously validate network functionality, interoperability and performance of vRAN solutions.

The solution will be designed to provide joint customers with:

  • A comprehensive virtualized solution that reduces complexity as well as operational and deployment risks thanks to improved automation and integration capabilities;
  • A future-proof and flexible network that can quickly adapt to new requirements as administrators will be able to manage updates remotely.

The expanded collaboration helps service providers implement a hybrid or multi-cloud strategy across all cloud environments, empowering them to adapt their infrastructure based on business or technology needs.

The solution will be built on a range of open hybrid cloud technologies, including Red Hat OpenShift, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes and Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform and will be available in the second half of 2023.
