Red Hat and Oracle are entering into a strategic multi-stage collaboration to provide customers with a greater choice of operating systems to run on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). As a first step in the collaboration, Red Hat Enterprise Linux can now run on OCI as a supported operating system.
Many companies around the world use Red Hat Enterprise Linux as the operating system and OCI for their cloud initiatives. Now these companies can standardize their operations by running Red Hat Enterprise Linux on OCI. This gives them a common platform that extends from the data center to the cloud.
Thanks to the collaboration, certified configurations of flexible virtual machines based on OCI can now run Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and it is also possible to migrate existing workloads already running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux to Red Hat Enterprise Linux on OCI. Flexible virtual machines on OCI can scale in increments as small as a single CPU to minimize wasted resources.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux forms the backbone of Red Hat’s hybrid cloud technology portfolio. With this collaboration, Red Hat and Oracle’s joint customers can now create a foundation for future computing deployments of Red Hat Enterprise Linux while maintaining the value of existing IT investments.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux is now certified for OCI. Red Hat Enterprise Linux is initially supported by AMD, Intel and Arm processors.
