Luis Enrique and ernesto valverde They would be the two coaches with a past at FC Barcelona who are now being linked to this scandal of alleged arbitration corruption. Apparently, The Barcelona Prosecutor’s Office would have requested the judge of the case to summon the two strategists to testify as witnesses in the case popularly known as “Negreira”.

According to information revealed by The countrythe reason for this request lies in finding out if the technical directors were aware of the alleged referee reports while they worked for the Barça club.

Basically, the Prosecutor’s Office tries to clarify to what extent these supposed dossiers were useful, since in the complaint that was presented last Friday FC Barcelona was accused of trying to obtain favorable arbitrations through payments to Enriquez Negreira. It is necessary to remember that the Catalan institution paid more than $7 million dollars for 17 years to the vice president of the Referees Committee in order to obtain detailed reports on the whistlers.

Twenty-four hours ago, FC Barcelona faced Athletic Club Bilbao, a team led by Ernesto Valverde, who was asked about this matter at the press conference after the match. In the questioning, an allusion was made to the fact that the blaugranas won the League and the Cup precisely in the last year of payments to this high position.

Valverde thought very well about his answer and tried to settle the matter with a purely sporting answer. “In Barcelona I didn’t even know they existed. He had no idea about all this ”.

“I’m thinking… We won the league with 14 points over the second and 17-19 over the third, I don’t remember. And we won the Cup with a 5-0 defeat of Sevilla in the final. I don’t think there was much discussion about who was the best team that season,” he added.

The 59-year-old DT coached Barca between 2017 and 2020 and was precisely the replacement for Luis Enrique, who held the position from 2014 to 2017. In recent years he was the Spain coach and directed the last World Cup in Qatar 2022 with La Roja. So far, the latter has not commented publicly on the case.
