Smartphones are increasingly an indispensable object in everyday life. It is with him that we are in contact with the world, that we pay bills, order dinner or watch our favorite series.
It is still the device par excellence when we want to capture a moment in photography or video. In this particular, there is a novelty in the market that takes photography to a new era: it is called Huawei P50 Pro and raises the bar to a level rarely seen.
For a long time now, Huawei has been investing heavily in the development of photography solutions (especially with the P series) that make some of its smartphones comparable to many of the most advanced cameras.
This P50 Pro brings new features, namely in terms of lenses, which will make the competition nervous. The test we carried out leaves no room for doubt: it is one of the most powerful smartphones today when it comes to photography.
Huawei P50 Pro: in search of the perfect photograph
What makes this Huawei flagship a decisive step forward in terms of photo quality are its new features, called Huawei XD Optics (which optimizes image detail) and the XD Fusion Pro image engine (which allows you to perfect details such as detail and color).
This in addition to the display with True Chroma image engine technology, providing a reliable reproduction of colors, the closest it has come to the human eye.
The cameras appear in an elegant double ring on the back of the smartphone. And it is here, with this dual camera array, that the Huawei P50 Pro begins to develop its full potential. An ultra wide-angle lens (13MP), a monochrome lens (40MP), a telephoto lens (64MP, with 10x optical zoom) and a hybrid lens for macro photography (up to 2.5 cm from the subject) are the tools. for a true photo feast, providing superior image quality and high dynamic range.
This excellence in terms of image is proven in details that we generally do not associate with a smartphone. The Huawei P50 Pro supports a zoom range of up to 100 times with absolutely incredible clarity. In the test we did, we took a picture from one bank to the other of a very wide river. And the way the photographed object was captured left no doubt: it is unprecedented and that leaves Huawei a few steps ahead of the competition.
For video lovers, aspiring influencers or YouTubers, the Huawei P50 Pro supports 4K video recording, across the full focal range.
It also features the new AIS Pro image stabilization solution, which helps the user to capture steady videos, even when zooming. We did this experience aboard a moving train and the result was absolutely irreproachable. It also has 4K timelapse mode and AI Cinemagraph, ideal for creative photography.
Huawei P50 Pro: elegant, resistant and with great autonomy
This smartphone features a curved 3D glass screen, slightly rounded at the edges, allowing for a more immersive experience, adapting easily to the user’s hand and achieving the feat of being thinner and lighter than previous generations.
It has a discreet punch chamber in the upper center of the screen and in terms of colors it supports the entire P3 color gamut to provide accurate and reliable tones. Thus, it displays something like 1.07 billion colors, offering a view of the world in true HDR.
Water resistant up to 50 meters (we haven’t tried it, but we trust the brand’s warranty), the Huawei P50 Pro also features a stereo sound system and Wi-fi 6 connection capability, which enhances its already remarkable capabilities. in terms of the operating system.
As far as the battery is concerned, the Huawei P50 Pro does not leave its credits in the hands of others. Even with the intensive use we gave it, the autonomy proved to be clearly above average. A full charge (which took about 30 minutes) took nearly two days, with several photo experiences in between.
EMUI 12 operating system
The Huawei P50 Pro comes equipped with the EMUI 12 operating system, where we find an improved control panel that allows users to pair different devices more easily and intuitively. The panel can be opened by swiping down from the top right screen, without interfering with active tasks, thus allowing access to music controls, Wi-fi or Bluetooth settings.
Working with this operating system makes the entire smartphone operation highly reactive, whether with touches or scrolls. Also noteworthy is the Device+, which almost disarmingly simplifies the process of connecting the smartphone with other Huawei peripherals. The security features are in line with what the brand has already accustomed us to, allowing access to the device using a password, fingerprint or facial recognition.
Apps and games in one place
Huawei AppGallery is where Huawei P50 Pro users can find all their favorite apps and games. Based on a four-layer security and privacy system, it’s very easy to browse through its more than 20 categories and find everything you need to have installed on your smartphone.
Huawei also offers Petal Search, a search engine powered by Artificial Intelligence and from where you can download all those essential applications to your smartphone, whether banking apps, social networks, Netflix or Spotify, among many others.
In this way, we were quickly able to customize the Huawei P50 Pro and adapt it to everyday needs.
This Huawei P50 Pro is, without a doubt, an extraordinary smartphone for those who like to have at hand a device capable of capturing the essentials of a moment, whether in an artistic photograph or in a short video. It is, most likely, the most sophisticated and “smart” device of its kind on the market. The premium photography he makes available makes him a faithful squire for trips, shows or special dates.
The recommended price of €1249 does not make it a cheap smartphone. But the truth is that the Huawei P50 Pro is not just any device. It’s a whole experience. See some examples of our photo shoot with this magnificent mobile phone.
