This Saturday, February 4, the Mexican ex-boxer Óscar de la Hoya turned 50 and commemorated them with some images uploaded to his official Instagram account. In one of the postcards, the now promoter imitated the legend Muhammad Ali photographing himself inside a vault surrounded by millions of dollars.
De la Hoya shared a reel in which he also left Ali’s image, which he used as a reference, and a message in which he highlighted having become a millionaire. The former boxer took the opportunity to set his next goal and that is to be the first billionaire Hispanic athlete.
“I have made it and I have kept it. The next goal is to be the first billionaire Hispanic athlete. Inspiration for my hero. Muhammad Ali,” he wrote in the post where he also tagged Forbes.
As reviewed by Yahoo! Sports, De La Hoya managed to rake in at least $700 million during his 16-year boxing career. Earlier, Óscar posted another post on Instagram where he is seen completely naked and only covered by a belt.
“Golden at 50. I have spent my whole life looking for happiness. But today, on my 50th birthday, I can finally say that I have found it. I couldn’t be more proud of who I am and where I am in life. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would make it to 40, let alone 50. There have been so many difficult moments. But the older I get, the happier I become. The best is ahead,” he wrote.
The Mexican celebrated his half century in the company of his current partner, the former golfer, businesswoman and television presenter, Holly Sonders, who organized an Aztec-themed party for him. He also traveled to a resort by private plane and upon arrival at the location he was greeted by mariachis.
