The Santa door and the Santa letters have become an increasingly common feature in the Christmas preparations of families with children. Below we tell you what it is and how you go about it.
As a kind of variant of the advent calendar, Santa can move in just in time for the first of December and stay until Christmas is over. During the nights, Santa bus takes place when crazy things are invented to delight the children the following day. Behind the small door placed just above the floor somewhere in the apartment, the little elf moves in and brings excitement and entertainment to the children throughout December.
Reports to Santa
The phenomenon is from the beginning American, “Elf on a shelf” involves the children finding an elf somewhere in the home. The elf has moved in to report to Santa if the children are being nice or not before Christmas Eve. Often this happens by a small door appearing on the wall where the elf can get in and out.
Moving in first December
There are many ready-made kits with elf doors as the phenomenon is becoming more and more common, it is also possible to build one yourself. The idea is that the door is attached with some kind of adhesive just above the skirting board. The elf then usually moves in just in time for the first of December and gets up to little mischief until Christmas Eve. Every day, the Santa can also leave a letter to the children and reveal what kind of house has been found or give the children fun tasks.
