Nintendo does not plan to increase the price of its Nintendo Switch either • ENTER.CO

Quiet. The company responded to Sony’s announcement and confirmed that the Nintendo Switch is not going up in price.

The gaming world is still chewing on the news of the PlayStation 5 price increase. What followed the announcement (in addition to the expected reaction from unhappy Sony gamers) was the fear that the PS5 announcement was just the advance for a marathon of new announcements about the price increase. Nintendo fans can rest easy (for now): The Nintendo Switch will not go up in price.

Through a statement shared with different international media, Nintendo responded to the controversy over the PS5 price increase and announced that at this time you have no plans to increase the price of your consoles or hardware.

“As our Chairman, Mr. Furukawa, stated at the 82nd Annual General Meeting of Shareholders in June: ‘While we are unable to comment on pricing strategies, we currently have no plans to change the price of our hardware due to inflation or the increase in acquisition costs in each country. We will determine our future pricing strategies through careful and ongoing deliberation.”

Nintendo is not the only one that has responded to Nintendo in the current controversy over the increase in the price of consoles. Microsoft also confirmed that it has no intention of increasing the price of the Xbox Series X/S.

Sony justified the price increase of its consoles by ensuring that it responds to the increase in production costs, as well as the global inflation scenario. Most analysts say that, although the reasons are correct, the company’s move wants to pass on these costs to the buyer and thus maintain a profit balance. A strategy that, no matter how annoying, will have little real effect on the demand for consoles.
