Neymar will miss the second leg of the Champions League against Bayern Munich due to injury

The coach of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Christophe Galtier, ruled out this Friday that Neymar be recovered in time to play the round of 16 second leg of the Champions League against Bayern Munich next Wednesday.

“No, I think it will be low against Bayern Munich,” said the coach when asked about the possibility of Neymar’s return during the usual press conference prior to the League match that will take place this weekend.

The medical report published this same day by the Parisian club indicated that the striker was continuing with his recovery and that next Monday a new valuation would be released.

The Brazilian player has suffered an ankle sprain “with ligament injuries” since last February, an injury whose period of loss immediately made him a question mark for the decisive appointment in Germany.

Bayern’s previous victory in the first leg at the Parc des Princes (0-1) forces the French team to a great feat at the Allianz Arena next Wednesday. Paris Saint Germain is one game away from being eliminated again in the round of 16 after losing to Real Madrid in 2022.

Now, they will have to come back far from home with Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé recovered at the front of the attack. Mbappé was not a starter in the first leg after arriving recently recovered from a muscle injury in his right leg.

For that appointment, Galtier does hope to have the defender Achraf Hakimi, who had not only been away from the pitch due to injury, but this week he was accused of raping a 24-year-old girl.

“I will not answer any questions about Achraf Hakimi’s extra-sports aspects,” the coach made clear, before adding that the club has already ruled on the situation, in reference to the fact that, when it was learned at the beginning of the week that the player was being investigated, the team showed confidence in Justice and supported the Moroccan international, who denies the accusations.
