Mexico will seek to debut with a win in the World Classic for the first time in its history

Everything is ready for Mexico to make its debut in the World Baseball Classic against Colombia’s team at Chase Fields in Arizona. Those led by Benajmín Gil will have their star pitcher Julio Urías on the mound with whom they will try to break a losing streak in the history of the start of the Clásicos.

In the four previous events, the Mexican Ninth debuted with a defeat in its debut and that is why this Saturday, March 11, they will seek to change history and start off on the right foot in a championship to which they have an important roster.

In 2006, Mexico debuted in the tournament with a 2-0 defeat against its counterpart from the United States.this is the only defeat of the ninth tricolor against the stars and stripes in the history of the World Baseball Classic. In 2009 the Mexicans were humiliated by Australia at home with a score of 17-7leaving one of the most painful defeats in history.

In 2013 the executioners of the Mexican National Team were the Italianswho beat the Aztecs with a closed score of 6-5. In 2019, the last edition of the Classic, again the Italians defeated Mexico with a closed slate of 10-9.

Faced with this reality, those directed by Benji Gil, will seek against Colombia, to change the negative history they have in the debut of this prestigious tournament and that is why they play it with their best piece from the mound, it will be the fifth debut and it is expected that the fifth will be the charm.
