The Cañeros de los Mochis defeated the Vaqueros de Montería with a score of 1-0 and gave Mexico the third position in the 2023 Caribbean Serieswhich is taking place in Caracas, Venezuela.
The Cañeros de los Mochis came from being in the first position of all against all, however, they ended up losing 8-3 against the Dominican Republic and without being able to obtain a title that has been elusive to Mexico since 2016. In this Caribbean Series, in addition to the good baseball practiced by the Cañeros de los Mochis, the Mexican fans were present in Venezuela and filled the stands with color as usual.
The game for the third box of the tournament was dominated by the pitchers of both teamsFor the Colombian Vaqueros, Carlos Eduardo Quevedo only allowed three hits in five innings and striking out four batters. While for the Mexican Cañeros, Jeff Kinley pitched six episodes allowing only four hits.
The only run of the match would be produced by Mexico in the sixth inning, after a double play, with a later uncatchable from Joey Terdoslavich that ended with Irving López scoring the hairline of the difference.
The game took place at the Monumental Simón Bolívar, venue that will receive the grand final of the Caribbean Series between the hosts, Leones del Caracas from Venezuela and the Tigres de Licey from the Dominican Republic.
