Matt Pobereyko, pitcher who represented Mexico in the Caribbean Series, dies of a heart attack.

The 31-year-old American pitcher, Matt Pobereyko, who represented Mexico in the last Caribbean Series, died of a heart attack. The aforementioned pitcher shone in the Pacific League in Mexico with the Algodoneros de Guasave and had everything ready to wear the uniform of the Saraperos de Saltillo in the Mexican Baseball League.
The Saraperos de Saltillo released the tragic news and mourned the loss of the stellar pitcher, confirming that he died of a heart attack. “The board of directors, players, coaching staff and those of us who make up the Saraperos de Saltillo Baseball Club deeply regret the death of our player Matt Pobereiko, an American pitcher who was part of the Saraperos roster for the 2023 season, who died of a heart attack.“.
Guasave cotton farmers also expressed their regret after such an unfortunate loss and recalled the masterful performances of Matt Pobereyko, who was dubbed “The Punch King”for reaching the figure of 73 fans last season.
In the same way, they shared a video recalling one of the many moments of joy that the American pitcher offered to the fans of Mexican baseball in which he shone and where he enjoyed his work to the fullest.
Cañeros de los Mochis, the team that represented Mexico in the last Caribbean Series and that took Matt Pobereyko, also added its condolences for the death of the American pitcher. “We deeply regret the death of Matt Pobereyko, we send a brotherly hug to his family and our friends from Algodoneros. Rest in peace“, they wrote through their Twitter account.
The pitcher born in Hammond, Indiana, he had a record of six wins and two losses, also averaged a 2.05 ERA in 70 innings pitched. Mexican baseball and sports in general is in mourning after the unfortunate and sudden loss of a young athlete and a great career in Aztec lands.
