Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic took advantage of the NBA All Star Game to talk about Lionel Messi and the World Cup won by Argentina in Qatar 2022. The Slovenian had words of admiration for the South American star.
Before the evening, the players shared with the different media to respond to their concerns and Doncic responded to some linked to soccer. One of them was about his opinion of the Qatar 2022 World Cup that Messi took with the Argentina team.
“Incredible, incredible. He is one of the best players in history. I like to see him a lot. He watched all the Argentina matches. He is an incredible talent”said Luka, admitting that he followed all the games led by Lionel Scaloni.
Doncic’s love of soccer is well known. The Slovenian has played basketball for Real Madrid since he was a teenager and these statements may cause a bit of surprise due to Messi’s past at Barca.
The European player was on LeBron James’ team, who could only play 14 minutes due to an injury to one of his fingers. Doncic and company gave up against team Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Luka is being a sensation this season with a Mavericks who are sixth in the Western Conference with a 31-29 mark. Only 10.5 games behind the leader the Denver Nuggets. The base averages 33.3 points per game, 8.8 rebounds and 8.1 assists in 50 games played.
Now, the spotlight will be on him and the franchise thanks to the arrival of Kyrie Irving. A signing that comes to improve the team and be able to take them to a more favorable position for the Playoffs.
