one day after Matías Messi, brother of Lionel Messiharshly criticized Barcelona before the possibility that his brother would dress as a blaugrana againbacked down and assured that it was “a joke”.
“I want to vindicate myself for what I said on social networks, only I was with my son and friends making a joke. How am I going to think that of a club as big as Barcelona and its history on that has given so much to both my family and Leo?”published this Thursday on his instagram account.
He was referring to his speech the day before on the ‘twich’ channel, ‘Labajada10’ directed by his son Tomy. During it, and in a relaxed tone, he said that Messi is not going to return to Barcelona and if he did, it would be after “a good cleaning”.
Among others, he spoke of President Joan Laporta, whom he described as “ungrateful” with “everything Messi gave Barcelona”. He also described the Spanish as “Some traitors” and recalled that the Messi’s mother already warned Leo that they were going to pay him like Ronaldinho.
In his apology, Matías Messi described Catalonia as the family’s second home. “That is public knowledge. I’m very sorry and I apologize to everyone, especially Barcelona fans“, says the older brother of Leo Messi.
Shortly after Matías’ first statements, Leo Messi’s communication office clarified that Leo’s brother’s opinion is “individual and personal” and it “does not have to coincide with Leo’s or the rest of the player’s family.”
