Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé and Karim Benzema are the three finalists for The Best Award

Argentine Lionel Messi from PSG together with the French, Karim Benzema from Real Madrid and Kylian Mbappé also from PSG, are the three finalists to win The Best FIFA Player 2022 award.

It should be noted that this award recognizes the most outstanding players between August 8, 2021 and December 18, 2022the winner will be announced as usual in a ceremony that this time will be held in Paris on February 27 of the current year.

Confirmation of the candidates by FIFA

FIFA, the highest governing body of world soccer, made public the names of the three finalists, who were chosen through a qualified international jury and it is made up of coaches and captains of men’s national teams, journalists and fans who have voted on the official FIFA website among the 14 initial nominees.

The definition promises to be very even because the three footballers have made a difference with the teams in which they playhighlighting Messi for winning the Qatar 2022 World Cup, Mbappé for scoring a hat-trick in the final and Karim Benzema for guiding Real Madrid to the UEFA Champions League.

After a disappointing start with PSG, Lionel Messi vindicated himself and smiled again on the pitch, he also won the World Cup and was awarded the Ballon d’Or of the great event in which he scored seven goals and gave three assists, thus crowning an impressive performance at 35 years of age.

For his part, Kylian Mbappé scored eight goals in Qatar including a hat-trick in the memorable final, a record not achieved in 56 years. Similarly, the French star was decisive for PSG to win the Ligue 1 title with 39 goals and 26 assists in 46 games.

Finally Karim Benzema, absent from the World Cup, led Real Madrid to lift their Champions League number 14. The striker was named the best player in the UEFA Champions League in which he scored a total of 15 goals, also being the top scorer. As if that were not enough, he collaborated with 27 goals to obtain Real Madrid’s 35th title in La Liga.

The cards are cast and it will be next February 27 when between two French and an Argentine the Best of last season is named.
