Mazatlán is going through a difficult losing streak in Mexican soccer. Together with the Gallos Blancos de Querétaro, they are the only clubs that they have not been able to win in this new edition of the championship. For this reason, the owner of the club, Ricardo Salinas proposed a juicy bet to his players to motivate them to victory against Pumas de la UNAM. But the deal was lost and the players must pay money to their president.
Ricardo Salinas’ intention was to motivate his players so that they once and for all they got their first victory in the Liga MX and thus leave the bottom of the position table. With a victory for Mazatlán, Salinas shelled out $300,000 to his players. But the defeat of the club places the manager in his pockets $30,000 that comes from the salaries of his players.
“I am sure that you have what it takes to get ahead, I am very sure. But then maybe not, then let’s make a bet. If they lose, they’re going to give me $30,000 to buy two golf carts.For assholes, I’m going to deduct them from your payroll. But if they win, I’m going to give them $300,000, I mean, to make it worth the trip.”, was the challenge proposed by Salinas.

This partial victory would give the three points to the club and the money to its players. But Pumas de la UNAM responded with goals from Salvio and Dinenno that turned the score around.
Mazatlán is still in the last place of the standings after eight games played. The Gunboats reap one draw and seven losses. The Mazatlan ensemble is the most thrashed in Liga MX with more than twenty goals against.
