Lena Olin has been given the honorable task of reading Lord Alfred Tennyson’s poem “The New Year’s Bell” on New Year’s Eve when SVT, as usual, broadcasts live from Skansen, the channel announced today.

Lena Olin on the assignment: “Happy and proud”

In a press release, the actress talks about her joy at having been chosen to read the traditional poem at the stroke of twelve:

“I have heard the “New Year’s Bell” recited at twelve o’clock since I was a little girl, a fantastic tradition! To now have the honor of conveying this text myself makes me so deeply happy. And proud. The poem feels more important than ever today,” says Olin in a press release.

The broadcast is hosted by host David Sundin. In addition, several well-known artists such as Peter Jöback, Petra Marklund, Rennie Mirro, Joachim Bergström, Frida Green, Nadja Kasanesh Holm and Get Up Soul Choir participate. The artists are accompanied by a house band led by conductor Johan Granström. At the end, there is arena rock performed by Jessica Andersson and Mariette.
