Do you love fashion? Then you should check out the visually striking documentary Kingdom of Dreams which is about the golden era of the fashion industry.
Kingdom of Dreams is a four-part documentary series that revisits what is known as the golden era of the fashion industry – without shying away from the back of the industry.
Portraying some of the fashion industry’s biggest moments
Kingdom of Dreams is based on the book by journalist and author Dana Thomas Deluxe: How Luxury Lost Its Luster. Produced by Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedguis, who are also behind the BAFTA-nominated documentary McQueen.
The documentary is filled to the brim with footage from the most iconic moments from the 1990s to the late 2010s. It also follows some of the greatest designers of the era – John Galliano, Alexander McQueen, Marc Jacobs and Tom Ford – and how they changed Haute Couture forever.
Side by side with the glamorous stock photos portray Kingdom of Dreams also the back side of the industry: the political games that went on behind the scenes, the competition between fashion houses and the enormous pressure to generate profit that their designers were subjected to.
Kingdom of Dreams is currently available to stream on HBO Max.
