Kanye West’s lawyers no longer want to represent him. There’s just one problem: they can’t get hold of the artist so they can tell him.
In recent months, there has been more storm than usual around Kanye “Ye” West. Due to the artist’s grossly racist and anti-Semitic statements in various contexts, several of the companies that previously collaborated with him have cut ties with him.
Been trying to contact West for months
Now, the law firm that West hired to represent him in a copyright dispute last year, Greenberg Traurig, has also decided that they no longer want to represent him. According to documents such as the British newspaper Independent has taken note of, however, the company has not yet managed to get hold of West to inform him of this.
The company has therefore applied to notify West of its decision through “alternative” methods: partly to insert advertisements in “two Los Angeles newspapers”, partly to email it to two other addresses that should belong to West.
The document also states that West has intentionally “avoided and prevented” the aforementioned service and that the firm has “used all available means to contact Ye and his representatives since November, without success.”
They add that West “appears to have deactivated the phone number previously used to contact him.”
