Jeff Molina was forced to publicly reveal his sexual preference due to the leak of a private video that circulated on social networks last Thursday. Now, the UFC fighter confessed to being bisexual through a statement on Twitter.
It was last Friday when the fighter posted a couple of images with the letter announcing that this is not the way he would have liked to report on a matter of his personal life.
“It’s not the way I wanted to do this, but they took away the opportunity to do it when I was ready (…) I have tried to keep my love life private from social networks. I wanted to be known for my skills and for what I have dedicated the last 11 years of my life… and not as ‘UFC’s bi fighter’ which I’m sure would translate as ‘UFC’s gay fighter’”, wrote the fighter of Colombian blood. .
Molina is the first male UFC fighter to say he is part of the LGBTQ+ community. However, it was not the first in the UFC, since the Brazilian Amanda Nunes declared himself homosexual a few years ago. He is currently a partner of another fighter like Nina Ansaroff, with whom he married and they have a girl.
The UFC has other cases such as Tecia Torres and her girlfriend is Rachel Pennington or Liz Carmouche, who caused some controversy at the time for revealing her sexual orientation before a fight against the legendary Ronda Rousey in 2013.
The 25-year-old American has a record of 11 wins and two losses in MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) and 3-0 in the UFC in the flyweight category. Molina is currently out of action due to a suspension from the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC). The reason? Being involved in an alleged gambling scheme with his trainer James Krause.
