Ja Morant is one of the rising stars of the NBA, but his controversies and fights off the court lead him to be in the eye of the storm. The Memphis Grizzlies player was accused of hitting a 17-year-old boy and even pointing a firearm at him.
This incident dates back to 2022, when he threatened a 17-year-old with a gun after a basketball game at Morant’s house. During those days, a mall security agent also accused being threatened by the player during an altercation.
The NBA has not yet made a decision on the investigations regarding the player who remains active with the Memphis Grizzlies, a team that ranks second in the Western conference with a record of 38 wins and 23 losses.
The fact was that he repeatedly hit the young man on the head and then threw him to the ground. According to the Washington Post, the police took the complaint and verified the blows to the head that the alleged victim received.
Morant spoke with police officers and said that the blows were in self-defense and that he did so in response after the boy threw a ball violently at his head. In addition, he said that the minor allegedly threatened him and that “he would blow up Morant’s house like fireworks.” Something for which Morant reported out of fear of him and his family.
It is not the first time in recent months that Morant has been involved in an altercation. On February 6, he was accused by Indiana Pacers players of pointing a red laser at the bus and the players claimed it might have been an assault rifle.
Also on February 29, Morant faced Chris Duarte of the Indiana Pacers and after the end of the game, the Memphis driver went to fight on the visiting team bus.
