At minimum temperatures that will be felt in the coming days put all the mainland districts under Yellow Alertdue to Frost, starting this Monday morning. The measure was officially communicated on the website of the IPMA – Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere.
The yellow warning, which painted the map of Portugal due to the persistence of low values of minimum temperatures, will be in force until the morning of Wednesday, January 25th.
According to the IPMA, the minimum temperatures that will be felt in Portugal will vary between 5ºC and -6ºC, until Wednesday morning, but the cold weather will continue to keep us company until the end of the week .
The cause of the drop in temperatures on the Continent is the formation of an anticyclone in Northern Europe, extending “in a crest” to the Atlantic, and transporting a mass of icy air to the Iberian Peninsula.
The expected minimums are 0ºC to 5ºC in most of the territory, and 0ºC to -6ºC in the interior of the North and Center of the country.
The descent of the minima should not suffer alterations of aggravation and the forecast is for sun, without rain, with intense cold.
The predicted maximum temperatures also suffer a decrease, and should be around between 10ºC and 15ºC in most of the mainland, and between 5ºC and 10ºC in the central and northern interior region.
