Dress panic in the morning, feeling lost in your style and having a wardrobe full of clothes but still feeling like you have nothing to wear is probably something that the vast majority of people can relate to. With a so-called capsule wardrobe, you eliminate these moments in your life and build a good base that lasts a long time.
Trends in all their glory, but to be able to wear them in a good way and above all to feel comfortable, most of us need a good base to start from. One way to do that is to have a so-called capsule wardrobe. According to Washington Post the concept was coined by Susie Faux, a shop owner in London, in the 70s, who believed that a capsule wardrobe consists of a few basic and timeless pieces, such as skirts and trousers, which can be supplemented with the trends of the season.
The concept then hit the headlines when New York designer Donna Karan presented her capsule collection which she called “Seven Easy Pieces” and which were intended to take the woman from day to night, from the office to the party. The collection contained according to Vogue a bodysuit, a skirt, a well-fitting jacket, a dress, something in leather, a white shirt and a cashmere sweater. A description of a set of garments that works just as well today as it did 35 years ago, right?
