Carlos ‘Gullit’ Peña has a new opportunity in football. The statement may seem hackneyed or repeated, but it is the reality. The Mexican midfielder, of whom only scandals and indiscipline have been talked about for several years, recently signed for the Al-Dhaid club of the United Arab Emirates.
In mid-2022, when he was without a team, he was seen drunk and recorded by several fans. After that he entered -again- in rehabilitation and another Central American club called him to his ranks. He spent several months at Club Deportivo Vida for several months, in which he barely played 94 minutes of two games in which he was present.
The Honduran team finally cut him off due to poor performance and when everything seemed lost, now in the exotic second division of the UAE they trusted their talent.
From the country of the Arabian peninsula, Peña told how he takes this new opportunity in football and also He responded to all those who call him “drunk”although he claims to be sober and focused on his profession.
“I don’t understand, I never try to hurt anyone. There are many people who at least would like to come here on vacation. Sometimes I don’t even take anything and people start saying (…) Unfortunately we are on the radar, but sometimes some do it maliciously”
