Google’s new AI text creator • ENTER.CO

Wordcraft, a function that tries to replace the human being in the creation of texts, would be Google’s new tool to produce fictional stories from the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). What will happen to writers and journalists?

During Google’s annual developer event, the tech giant unveiled the Language Model for Dialog Applications (LaMDA), a family of conversational neural language prototypes developed by the search engine.

The company revealed during the event that this new system has allowed it to “explore the future of writing”, through the participation of 13 writers who have used the tool for eight weeks to write with LaMDA.

The writing process would consist of the system recognizing a word written by a text, and predicting the next word that would be adjusted so that the sentence remains coherent. Likewise, it has a section of possible phrases that depend on the style of the author.

Also, if the user writes a sentence but wants to rewrite it, they only have to click on a button and the application displays a text field in which they can describe how they would like to form the sentence.

On the other hand, Wordcraft has text continuation options and integrates a control that registers arbitrary indications. That way, the author can ask the program to describe a subject, character, or action to generate more text.

At the beginning of 2019, the academic publisher Springer Nature published “Lithium-Ion Batteries: A Machine-Generated Summary of Current Research”, where the Artificial Intelligence was able to write citations, links to sources and references. With this tool, scientists could take much less time to write their research.

Then, we learned about the case of Lucia Funes, the name given to the Artificial Intelligence developed to help Mercedes Ezquiaga finish her book “The future will be art. When creation expands its borders”. The author was suffering from a creative block and was in contact with her friend, the science journalist Esteban Tablón, who, with Artificial Intelligence, was in charge of developing a virtual entity capable of producing a text with a theme and style aligned with the rest of the chapters.
