Gerardo Martino was not in the best shape of the Mexican National Team. The Argentine strategist failed on the bench of El Tri and after a terrible participation in the World Cup in Qatar, he stepped aside. But the “Tata” link with Mexico could continue. The South American coach has been in the UANL Tigres radar.

The board of directors of the feline group stood idly by when they saw how the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) took away Diego Cocca. This agreement completely destroyed the UANL Tigres project. But the feline board would insist on Argentine strategies for its bench. Even though she left through the back door of El Tri, Gerardo Martino has a great career behind him.

Gerardo Martino and his career at club level

It is more than well known all the work that Gerardo Martino developed with the selections of Paraguay, Argentina and recently Mexico. But the “Tata” came to these selections thanks to existing processes in their clubs.

Gerardo Martino began his stage as a coach in Paraguay. The “Tata” commanded the bench of Libertad and Cerró Porteño. Martino also directed in Argentina Colon and Newll’s Old Boys. His last two clubs were FC Barcelona and Atlanta United from the United States. In fact, the whole of MLS was the club in which he directed the most games with 78 games.

On the other hand, the South American has been able to lift several trophies with his teams. “Tata” was crowned four times Paraguayan league champion, won the MLS championship and lifted the Spanish Super Cup with FC Barcelona.
