From Fuseta to Cacela Velha, not forgetting some of the best beaches in Tavira, you will find unique landscapes and a algarve that many thought had disappeared. This is our proposal for a tour that you will love.
The Algarve continues to be the destination of choice for thousands of Portuguese and foreigners looking for rest and even a little bit of sun.
The intense occupation of the territory has led to some areas of the region being saturated, but it is still possible to find true paradises🇧🇷
From Fuseta to Cacela Velha: an off-the-beaten-path Algarve
Fuseta is a small fishing village in the municipality of Olhão, linked to cod fishing, where the Ria Formosa joins the sea, by dune cords that form some of the most beautiful beaches in the region.
Praia da Fuseta has a narrow but extensive sand and is of unique beauty. Here you can enjoy a unique sunset and several bays that form along the coast.
This is an inviting beach for families with young children, but also for those looking for peace and quiet in the hustle and bustle of the Algarve. Boat trips are an excellent activity that you can do in this area, taking the opportunity to discover the salt flats in the Ria Formosa.
At the opposite end is Praia da Ilha da Armona, where regular boats depart from Fuseta. This is a unique beach, full of natural pools, the perfect place for relaxed days by the sea.
The charms of Tavira
After stopping in Fuseta, continue your journey to Tavira, and make a stop at Praia do Barril, where several anchors (cemetery of anchors) take us back to the fishing past, as well as the colorful houses that are now occupied by bars and restaurants. Another charm of the coast from Fuseta to Cacela Velha.
A little over 1 kilometer away is Praia do Homem Nu, an almost deserted naturist beach, overlooking Barra da Fuseta and Armona Island. In the area, about 13 kilometers from Praia do Barril, is Praia de Cabanas de Tavira, ideal for lovers of water sports, such as windsurfing and sailing.
In the Tavira area, in addition to beautiful beaches, there is a wide range of cultural heritage, testimony to the Islamic presence in the region. A visit to the castle will give you a panoramic view over the city and a stroll through the historic center will give you an insight into the peaceful life of the city.
This route ends in beauty in the picturesque village of Cacela Velha. The village, with narrow streets lined with whitewashed houses, also takes us back to a past full of Muslim vestiges.
Praia da Fábrica delights visitors, which can only be reached by boat, or on foot at low tide. A unique corner, away from the hustle and bustle of other places in the Algarve, which deserves a leisurely visit.
