Five9 bets on Portugal with new engineering hub in Porto

Five9’s new facilities in the city of Invicta will help scale the company’s growing international presence.

Five9, a leading provider of Intelligent Cloud Contact Center solutions, announced the opening of its new Hub European Center for Research and Development in the city of Porto, Portugal.

The office will be the company’s engineering headquarters in Europe, encompassing work in the areas of artificial intelligence, software engineering and cloud operations.

The facilities currently have more than 100 employees (new and coming from other company locations), and the plan is to grow this number to 300 in the coming years.

The new facility will help scale Five9’s growing international footprint, which continues to expand its capabilities to deliver the latest innovations in cloud contact center and customer experience to both European customers and multinational companies with a US presence. and in EMEA.

“When we looked at options for our next EMEA facilities, Porto was the clear choice,” commented Mike Burkland, CEO and Chairman of Five9. “The city is an emerging, well-connected technology hub with a large engineering talent base, and will allow us to continue our mission to bring innovation in customer experience and business transformation to companies around the world.”

“Following my visit to Five9’s California headquarters, where I had the opportunity to discuss the company’s future expansion into Portugal, I am delighted to welcome its new European engineering hub in Porto,” said Bernardo Ivo Cruz , Secretary of State for Internationalization.

Over the past two years, Five9 has rapidly expanded its team across Europe. In May, it announced the opening of two Data Centers in Amsterdam (Netherlands) and Frankfurt (Germany) to ensure high availability in Europe and facilitate compliance with local regulatory requirements.

“We are delighted to welcome Five9 to Portugal, landing on the West Coast of Europe from the West Coast of the USA,” added Luís Castro Henriques, President and CEO of AICEP, Portugal’s Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade. “Porto is proving its attractiveness for IT companies due to a pool of highly qualified talent and a multilingual and multicultural work environment. We are happy that Five9 is part of this growing technology ecosystem.”
