ESSIQ, a player in the technology consulting industry, has in recent years had a major focus on supporting young future engineers. Among other things, by offering internships, labor market days and inviting students to various events. Now the company continues to invest in young talents and a three-year sponsorship is ready with both Chalmers, KTH and Lund Formula Student.
ESSIQ was founded in 2005 with an office in Gothenburg and has since then established itself in both Stockholm and Malmö. In all locations, the company has created a strong network among students and sometimes with the Formula Student teams. Formula Student is a unique opportunity for students to develop in areas such as business, technology, mechanics and project management. Each year a new team is put together who, during the course of the year, will design and build a Formula Student car from scratch and then compete against university teams from all over the world. ESSIQ is now signing a three-year agreement for the highest sponsorship level for Chalmers Formula Student, KTH Formula Student and Lund Formula Student.
– Sponsors and collaborations are a prerequisite for it to be possible for us to run the project. Without ESSIQ’s support, it would have been much more difficult to go to suppliers, test tracks and the competitions. As a result, the project can build one of the world’s best electric Formula Student cars year after year, says Kevin Bielecki, team captain at Chalmers Formula Student.
Formula Student is one of the world’s largest competitions in engineering education. With support from almost all industries, the competition aims to develop enterprising and innovative engineers and encourage more young people to pursue a career in engineering. Thanks to the project, the team members take an extra step in their education by combining the theoretical courses with practical experience of design and manufacturing together with financial and marketing aspects.
– We at ESSIQ want to contribute to more young people taking an interest in the engineering profession and supporting projects that are so clearly a great help in the learning process feels important to us. Since 2016, we have collaborated with Chalmers Formula Student and now we have also started the collaboration with the teams at KTH and Lund, which we are very proud of, says Jonas Sohtell, CEO of ESSIQ AB.
During the spring, the teams will complete and present this year’s cars and then participate in competitions and in several categories.
