The Benfica statement and the historical records of Enzo Fernández

For his part, Benfica, his club of origin, confirmed the transfer in a statement to the Portuguese Securities Market Commissionl, in which he specified that River Plate, his previous team, will receive 25% of the profits for the Argentine star.

As previously mentioned, the signing of Enzo Fernández becomes the most expensive transfer in the history of the Premier League, but that is not the only record that the Argentine leaves with these exorbitant figures, Fernández becomes the most expensive Argentine signing in history, the most expensive signing in Chelsea history and the sixth most expensive signing in world football history.

Benfica’s position on Enzo Fernández

Despite the fact that the signing has not yet been made official by Chelsea, it is already a fact and the Argentine footballer would have even passed the physical tests. Faced with this reality, the Benfica coach regretted the departure of the former River Plate Argentine star, but recalled that the Benfica shield is above any player.

It is always difficult to lose a good player in the winter transfer window, but today we showed that we are a good team without him, that we are capable of playing good football without him, that the players are focused on having the most points, to be champions“said Roger Schmidt in statements reviewed by EFE.

Benfica is much bigger than a player. We only need players who are happy to play for Benfica. We had a player who wanted to leave and a club willing to pay the clause. We couldn’t do anything. We accept and look forward“, he sentenced.
