Elvis’ daughter Lisa Marie Presley has passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest at her home in California yesterday. “She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known,” her mother Priscilla Presley said in a statement.
Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, has passed away at the age of 54.
According to TMZ Lisa Marie was discovered unconscious in her bedroom on Thursday morning after suffering a cardiac arrest. Her ex-husband Danny Keough, who also lives in the property, performed CPR before she was taken to hospital where she later died.
Priscilla Presley confirmed her daughter’s death in a public statement:
“It is with a heavy heart that I have to share the crushing news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us. She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known.”
Followed in his father’s footsteps
Lisa Marie, who was born in 1968, chose to follow in her father’s footsteps and become an artist. During her career, she released three albums, the first of which sold hundreds of thousands of copies when it was released in 2003.
She was married four times: first to musician Danny Keough (1988-1994), then to pop star Michael Jackson (1994-1996), then to actor Nicolas Cage (2002-2004) and finally to guitarist Michael Lockwood (2006-2016).
She had four children, including Benjamin Keough who took his own life in 2020.
The stars pay tribute to Lisa Marie Presley
Since the news of Lisa Marie’s passing was released, several stars have expressed their grief over her passing. Her ex-husband Nicolas Cage says in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter:
“This is devastating news. Lisa had the best laugh of anyone I’ve ever met. She lit up every room, and I am devastated. I find some comfort in thinking that she is reunited with her son Benjamin.”
Actor John Travolta writes on Instagram:
“Dear Lisa, I’m so sorry. I miss you but I know I will see you again.”
Tom Hanks – who appeared in the film Elvis which came out last year – posted a joint statement from himself and his wife Rita Wilson on Instagram:
“We are devastated by the loss of Lisa Marie Presley. Completely devastated…”
Artist Pink writes:
“This hurts the heart. Lisa Marie, you were one of a kind. Amazingly funny, amazingly smart, sensitive, talented, witty, cool, loving, generous, judgmental but always right, loyal, and you adored your children.”
