Elsa Billgren releases book about the Carl Larsson farm

This spring, the book “Ett hem: Carl & Karin Larssons värld” is released, where Elsa Billgren shows off Sweden’s most famous home. Here you are welcomed to the Carl Larsson farm – home to two of the greatest artists Sweden has ever seen.

When Carl and Karin Larsson moved home to Sweden after several years abroad, they were given a small cottage in Sundborn by Karin’s father. The cottage in Dalarna became Carl’s and Karin’s joint art project where their artistic talents resulted in an unusually modern and personal architecture, coloring and interior design.

In the book A home: Carl & Karin Larsson’s world combines interesting texts that provide a historical context with fantastic photography to give all admirers of the turn-of-the-century artists the chance to discover their greatest work: the home.

“It feels fantastic that the farm is being shown in a completely new way,” says Chia Jonsson, manager at the Carl Larsson farm. “Lilla Hyttnäs is an icon in Swedish home interior design and Elsa Billgren has managed to manage what makes the home unique.” The light, Karin’s free interior design style and the lively family life, as depicted in Carl’s beloved watercolors, have become synonymous with the image of Sweden. With photos by Mira Wickman, texts by Ulrika Ewerman and concept and styling by Elsa Billgren, the book gives a unique insight into one of Sweden’s most famous homes. Form is made by Bea Hellman. “This is a dream come true,” says Elsa Billgren about the upcoming book. “Think of getting the chance to botanize in all the closed cupboards and hidden nooks and crannies to show off the living home that the Carl Larsson farm was and still is today. There are few environments that are so inspiring and the goal of this book is that everyone should be able to take some of that inspiration with them.”

The book A home: Carl & Karin Larsson’s world will be released on Bookmark Publishing on May 4.
