What makes a skin care product more popular than ever, almost 100 years after its launch? We take a look at the salve that celebrities can’t get enough of.
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream was created back in the 1930s but is still loved by make-up artists, celebrities and skin care fans worldwide. In fact, one copy of the salve is sold every thirty seconds – not bad for a product that is nearly 100 years old. So what makes Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream a skin care favorite year after year?
Healed the skin in eight hours
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream is a mixture of vaseline and vitamin E that was created by Elizabeth Arden herself in the 1930s. Unlike many other cosmetic products of the time, the salve was designed to actually heal the skin, instead of merely hiding skin problems. The name Eight Hour Cream came from one of Arden’s clients at her salon in New York claiming that it took only eight hours for the cream to heal a wound on her son’s knee.
Victoria Beckham’s favourite
Today, Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream is more popular than ever. Victoria Beckham loves its moisturizing properties and Reese Witherspoon’s make-up artist Molly Stern has revealed that she uses Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream to give Witherspoon’s skin extra moisture on set.
In addition to the fact that the cream has survived for almost a hundred years thanks to its healing properties, there is another thing behind its popularity: it has several uses, from counteracting dry lips to keeping eyebrows in place and softening cuticles. Some even apply it to the lids for a delicious glossy look.
