The Mexican Edson Álvarez was a negative protagonist in the defeat of Ajax 1-3 against Unión Berlin, which meant the elimination of the team from the UEFA Europa League. The Mexican was sent off for slapping a rival and was also responsible for one of the goals conceded by the Dutch team.

In addition to Edson Álvarez, also a Mexican, Jorge Sánchez, who stayed on the substitute bench, says goodbye to the Europa League after not being able to reach the objectives today against the aforementioned German rival at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei.

The goals for Unión Berlin were scored by Robin Knoche from a penalty at minute 20, Croatian Josip Juranovic at minute 44 of the game and Danilho Doekhi who at minute 50 of head gave definitive figures to the party. For Ajax discounted Mohammed Kudus at minute 47.

Hard day for Edson Álvarez

As previously mentioned, the Mexican was expelled from the match, the event occurred at minute 95 already at the end of the game, after slapping an opponent. But this was only the closure, since Álvarez was clearly guilty of one of the goals conceded by Ajax by the Unión Berlin.

In the third goal of the German team, Álvarez, who played as a defender, had no response and Doekhi ended up vaccinating the Argentine goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli. In this way, Ajax says goodbye and Unión Berlin advances and transfers its good moment to Europe.
