The Mexican boxer Esmeralda Falcón, who participated in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, is raffling off her uniform due to the lack of financial support during the qualifying cycle for Paris 2024. This was announced by the high-performance athlete through her Facebook account, where she also assures that she will continue to fight to meet her sporting goals.
“I will be doing a raffle for the uniform with which I attended the Olympic Games, and thus be able to pay for my next participation in the Women’s World Boxing Championship to which I have been summoned, which will be held from March 14 to 26 in IndiaFalcon wrote.
Esmeralda had planned to attend the World Boxing Championship of the International Association and that will be taking place in India from March 15 to 26. According to sports media reports, the president of the Mexican Boxing Federation reportedly informed Falcón that it was impossible to afford the expense for the athlete.
Faced with this reality, The National Commission for Physical Culture and Sports, better known in Mexico as Conade, which is chaired by Ana Guevara, would not have financially supported the boxing federation for a yeara fact that prevents them from paying the expenses of the aforementioned high-performance athlete.
Nevertheless, The federation assured that they expect to register six boxers, but everything will depend on the support they obtain from CONADE.. They also indicated that despite not being an event that grants a direct ticket to Paris 2024, it is a great opportunity for international contact for those who have the opportunity to attend.
It is known that Esmeralda Falcón would have acquired the ticket to travel to India, but nevertheless she lacks the lodging and food expensesfor which no government institution would have offered to help, a reason that has led her to take the initiative of the raffle and other activities to raise money with the support of her relatives.
