Director David Cronenberg (“The Fly”) wants Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart together again in a new movie project. The filmmaker revealed the desire in an interview with World of Reel and took the opportunity to praise the actors.
“It was Robert Pattinson who introduced me to Kristen Stewart. They developed beautifully and separately as actors. They made art movies and uploaded them successfully. We had a good time, Kristen and I, Rob and I. I can definitely think of a movie or idea that would be great to have them together,” she declared.
Pattinson and Stewart starred in one of the most famous couples in cinema playing Edward Cullen and Isabella Swan, from the Twilight Saga. The films, in the fantasy and romance genre, were successful between 2008 and 2012 and practically introduced both celebrities to the public and fandons.
“I don’t want to go into details, because it wouldn’t be my next movie. However, it can be problematic as fans can expect a certain type of relationship and that would get in the way of creating new characters for them. So I have this weird feeling that it could be a problem, so it’s just a theory for now,” explained Cronenberg, undermining fans’ hopes of seeing the pair as a couple once again – even if it’s in fiction.
It is worth remembering that during the filming of the famous franchise, Stewart and Pattinson also engaged in a romance in real life – which further increased the hype of the films. However, the relationship ended five years later, surrounded by controversies that indicated that the actress would have been involved with director Ruper Sanders during the relationship.
In her most recent work, Kristen Stewart starred in “Spencer”, a film for which she was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress, and Robert Pattinson starred in “Batman” in a DC production that has already been confirmed by Warner Bros.
