In full swing of the match between Venezuela and Cuba for the 2023 Caribbean Series, last Saturday the new and luxurious Simón Bolívar Monumental Stadium, in La Rinconada, witnessed an unprecedented request for a hand in the stands of the venue.
In the middle of the match in which Venezuela crushed the island as a whole 19 runs by three, it was possible to see how the cameras captured the romantic moment and broadcast it on the giant screen.
In the recording, the way in which the man knelt on one knee was visible and the clearly surprised woman did not hesitate to say “I do” to the euphoric cries of the fans present who congratulated the couple.
This event went viral on social networks, where the video rolled like wildfire and the reactions of the fans did not wait. “From Lusail to the Monumental. You are in all, champion. Hug”; “When they get divorced, will they also make it public that way?”; “The first ridiculous ones have already come to light in the Monumental. Now, the next marginals are coming to do it too”, were some comments from Internet users on Twitter.
Another of the most prominent reactions on the blue bird social network was that of the ESPN journalist Enrique Rojas. He “he proposed to her in the middle of the game, in front of more than 30 thousand people. My hero,” he wrote.
This event occurred during the clash between Los Leones del Caracas (Venezuela) and Agricultores de Granma (Cuba). For the first time in the history of this tournament, eight teams participate: Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Cuba, Curacao, Panama and Colombia, which won the last edition in Santo Domingo.
