‘Close’ the new TikTok feed with which you can see local content • ENTER.CO

TikTok is one of the most specific social networks; that is to say, there you will find content that really manages to hook you for hours, all thanks to the algorithm that determines what you may like according to the content you consume; now, the application wants to be even more intuitive. As reported on TechCrunch, the social network is developing a new feed called ‘nearby’ designed to show you local content.

A spokesman confirmed to the American portal that the function is being tested mainly with Asian users. Users who already have the trial can see the new tab next to the “following” and “for you” feed on TikTok home. “We are always thinking of new ways to add value to our community and enrich the TikTok experience,” the spokesperson argued in an email.

Matt Navarra, a social media consultant, was one of the first to report on the new feature, who also argued that it was being tested alongside a feature that allows adding location tags. The most logical thing is that the ‘nearby’ feed is based on the tags that users have added. However, when the spokesman was asked if this would only be the case, he replied that “it is too early to say”.

The truth is that this feed would end up being a success as well as all the functions that TikTok has launched. And the fact is that the application’s algorithm is already too successful, now, with this ‘nearby’ feed, it could show you the restaurants, clothing stores or hiking trails near you for those days when you don’t know what to do. Even this new feature would give TikTok more weight on its way to becoming the quintessential browser for young people.

As we always clarify with this type of function: you have to keep in mind that they are just in testing, which means that it may see the sunlight, as it may be discarded. Its launch will depend on how well it is received by test users. You can be sure that once its launch is made official (let’s hope so) we will announce it through ENTER.CO.
