The start of Major League Soccer (MLS) will be marked by the classic between the Los Angeles Galaxy and the Los Angeles Football Club. However, Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández will not be present due to an injury with a worrying outlook.
A hamstring problem in his right leg will prevent him from being at the premiere of his team against the current champion of North American soccer this Saturday, February 25. Through his official account on Instagram, the Aztec striker made his medical part known and regretted that he could not be part of the game.
“Many not so positive feelings due to the injury that will prevent me from spending time with my team. We have to support and encourage in another way. This Saturday, all together, let’s support our team to start the season in the best way, ”he wrote in the post accompanied by three photographs wearing the Galaxy shirt.
‘Chicharito’ finished making official what his coach Greg Vanney already showed at the press conference prior to the match, where he narrated how the situation of the Mexican arose.
“In a training session last week there was evidence of irritation in the hamstring area. Upon returning to training she felt that something was not right. We are trying to assess (…) in the last game he played he began to feel symptoms, so to speak, and since then it has been a work in progress, always trying to feel better, ”he explained.
After his arrival at the LA Galaxy in 2020, Hernández has missed 50% of the confrontations against LAFC between MLS is Back’, US Open Cup and regular season. Counting this duel, there are already six absences from 12 classics that have been played since his signing.
The 34-year-old veteran is the top scorer for those led by Vanney in the last two seasons, adding 35 goals in 53 official matches with the club.
